Product Overview
Adequan Canine is an injectable drug approved by the FDA to control symptoms caused by non-infectious traumatic or degenerative arthritis in the synovial joints or after joint surgery.
For use in dogs with joint pain, inflammation, and other canine arthritis-related symptoms.
Adequan is ideal for quickly improving joint mobility after surgery. It can also aid in controlling signs of traumatic joint arthritis and degenerative joint diseases.
Adequan Canine works to reduce joint inflammation, increase joint fluid (synovial fluid) thickness, enhance cartilage production, and aid in the production of healthy synovial fluid.
Studies have shown the following self-limiting and mild reactions in a low number of dogs:
- Transient injection site pain
- Temporary diarrhea
- Abnormal bleeding

Contact your closest emergency pet hospital.
- Administer with caution to dogs with hepatic or renal impairment.
- Never administer to a dog with a suspected or known bleeding disorder.
- Never administer to dogs with PSGAG (synthetic steroid) hypersensitivity.

Following several doses, the effects of this medication will be shown through increased playfulness and an increase in activity levels.
The recommended dose of Adequan® Canine is 2 mg/lb body weight (.02 mL/lb, or 1 mL per 50 lb) by intramuscular injection only, twice weekly for up to 4 weeks (maximum of 8 injections). Do not exceed the recommended dose or therapeutic regimen.
Do not mix Adequan® Canine with other drugs or solvents.
Adequan contains 100 mg of polysulfated glycosaminoglycan and 0.9% v/v benzyl alcohol (a preservative). Other ingredients include water, sodium hydroxide, and/or hydrochloric acid added when necessary to adjust pH. Sodium chloride may also be added to adjust tonicity.
