Atopica for Cats is a useful treatment for chronic atopic dermatitis. A revolutionary medication, this product controls atopic dermatitis, which is the most prevalent allergy-related skin condition in cats.
For use in kittens (ages 6 months and up; 3 pounds and up) and cats.
Features of Atopica for Cats:
- Most cats love the palatable flavor
- Easily-administered medication
- Works to reduce skin lesions and itching
- Controls skin allergies
This medication has antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effects in treating allergic dermatitis. It works to specifically target immune cells that are involved in allergic responses, such as mast cells, eosinophils, Langerhans cells, and T-lymphocytes. It prevents inflammatory molecule release, including histamines and cytokines, which breaks the cycle of itching and scratching.
Rarely, the following reactions have occurred:
- Anorexia
- Diarrhea
- Weight loss
- Vomiting

Atopica is known as a systemic immunosuppressant. As such, it can cause an increase in susceptibility to infections and neoplasia development. Out of 205 cats in a field study, one cat died as a result of effusive feline infectious peritonitis.

Potential symptoms of allergic skin conditions include:
- Hair loss
- Skin lesions
- Licking
- Chewing
- Itching
- Face or neck lesions
Give 3.2 mg/lb (7 mg/kg) by mouth 1x a day for 4-6 weeks or until resolution of clinical signs. Following this, the dose may be tapered to every other day or twice weekly as needed to maintain the therapeutic effect. Dosing of the liquid formulation is accomplished by a syringe that is marked with weight bands for easy dosing.
