Product Overview
Betadine Surgical Scrub is used to prepare the skin before surgery. It aids in the reduction of potentially harmful bacteria, mitigating the risk of infection. When used as a hand wash, it works to reduce the bacteria present on the skin, leading to a significant reduction in the amount of bacteria on the forearms and hands before patient care or surgical procedures.
For human use in veterinary clinics and facilities.
Features of Betadine Surgical Scrub:
- Uses the ingredient povidone-iodine, a useful antiseptic microbicide
- Drastically reduces amount of microorganisms present on the skin
- Deep cleansing and sudsing
This product contains povidone-iodine, which is a potent antiseptic microbicide that works to kill fungi and bacteria.
Continued exposure to this solution can lead to irritation. In rare cases, it can cause a serious skin reaction.

If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
- Withdraw use and speak to your veterinarian or doctor if sensitivity, local irritation, or redness develop.
- Keep away from children.

This product is useful on the surgical or procedural site of the animal, as well as the hands of the person performing the procedure or surgery.
- Wet hands with water.
- Spread about 5cc (1 teaspoonful) of Scrub over both hands and forearms
- Without adding more water, scrub thoroughly for 2-1/2-3 minutes.
- Use a brush if desired. Clean thoroughly under fingernails.
- Add a little water and develop copious suds. Rinse thoroughly under running water.
- Repeat the entire procedure using another 5 cc of Scrub.
- Wet hands with water and pour about 5 cc of Scrub on hands.
- Rub hands vigorously together for at least 15 seconds, covering all surfaces.
- Rinse and dry with a disposable towel.
- After the surgical area is clipped, wet it with water.
- Apply Scrub (1 cc is sufficient to cover an area of 20-30 square inches). Develop lather and scrub thoroughly for about 5 minutes.
- Rinse off using sterile gauze saturated with water.
- The area may then be painted with Betadine Solution Veterinary and allowed to dry
