Product Overview
A prescription drug for cats and dogs, Famotidine Tablets are intended to aid in treating intestinal or gastric (stomach) ulcers. This medication can also be used for stomach inflammation associated with kidney failure or with gastric reflux. This is a generic form of the drug Pepcid.

Famotidine is a prescription for dogs and cats primarily used in the treatment of stomach (gastric) and intestinal ulcers.
Famotidine Tablets are intended for use in cats and dogs only.
Famotidine Tablets:
- Can help in the healing of pet's ulcers
- Can assist in gastric reflux
- Helps to treat stomach inflammation due to kidney failure
Famotidine is part of the histamine receptor-2 blocker class and acts as an anti-ulcer drug. When H-2 receptors exist in membranes of cells, stimulation of stomach cells occurs and it causes gastric acid to be secreted. This drug works to help ulcers heal by preventing gastric acid secretion through the blockage of H-2 receptors.
In animals, some side effects from Famotidine may occur. For animals with an allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug, it should not be administered. For animals with known liver or kidney disease, use extreme caution when prescribing this drug.

Overdose of Famotidine is rare, but if you suspect your pet may have overdosed, contact your closest emergency pet hospital.Symptoms of Famotidine overdose may include vomiting, pale gums, rapid heart rate, restlessness, or collapse.
It is common for Famotidine to have interaction with drugs including Ketoconazole and Digoxin. If your pet has heart disease, kidney or liver disease, or is pregnant, use this medication with caution. Always consult your veterinarian before giving your pet this medication.

This medication should be stored in a cool, dry place at 77 degrees Fahrenheit or under. The duration, frequency, and dosage of treatment with this medication will vary from animal to animal, so you should always follow your veterinarian's dosage instructions.
The recommended dose of Famotidine to be administered to pets is 0.25 to 0.5 mg per pound (0.5 to 1.0 mg/kg) every 12 to 24 hours.If you miss a dose while giving your pet Famotidine, administer is as soon as your remember during the same day. However, if you do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and only give your pet the next regularly scheduled dose. Do not give your pet a double dose of Famotidine.
