Finasteride (generic Proscar) Tablets are used in conjunction with other drugs or independently to treat enlarged prostate glands. It works to improve associated symptoms, such as difficult or frequent urination, and could reduce the occurrence of acute urinary retention.

Finasteride improves certain symptoms, such as difficult or frequent urination. It may also reduce the chances of acute urinary retention and decrease the chances of requiring prostate surgery.
Finasteride blocks production of the body's male hormone, which causes prostate enlargement.

- Young. sexually developing, pregnant, or sexually mature female animals should not be given this medication.
- Do not administer to dogs with known hypersensitivities to this medication or dogs with liver failure.
- Finasteride can be absorbed through the skin and should not be handled by pregnant or potentially pregnant women. Women hoping to become pregnant should avoid the sperm of male partners exposed to this medication.
