Strepvax II is a vaccine for use in healthy horses of all ages as an aid in the prevention of disease (strangles) due to Streptococcus equi infection. Available in single dose 1 ml syringe or 10 dose/10 ml vial.

It is a vaccine for healthy horses as an aid in the prevention of disease (strangles) due to Streptococcus equi infection.
Healthy Horses of all ages
-Aids in the prevention of disease (strangles) due to Streptococcus equi infection.
-Contains a purified M-protein antigen extracted through an exclusive process.
-Sensitizing elements of whole cell bacterins are virtually excluded in the extraction process.
-Promotes phagocyte destruction of virulent S equi.
-Reduced risk of sensitization; well tolerated by most horses.
-Available as convenient-to-use prefilled syringe or as 10 dose vial.
-Killed vaccine with no risk of reversion to virulence.
Strepvax II is a concentrated aluminum hydroxide-adsorbed suspension of purified antigens derived from Streptococcus equi cells. It contains the antigenic protein of this antigen but is essentially free of the toxic and irritant substances present in whole cell bacterins.
Field reports suggest that certain hypersensitive individuals may demonstrate local or generalized reactions, sometimes severe, following exposure to streptococcal proteins. Field studies indicate that postvaccinal exercise will appreciably decrease the incidence and duration of reactions. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur following use. Antidote: Epinephrine.

Administration and Dosage: Shake well. Using aseptic technique, inject 1 mL intramuscularly preferably in the hind quarters. For primary vaccination give 3 doses at intervals of 3 weeks. Foals vaccinated when less than 3 months of age should receive an additional dose at 6 months. Revaccinate annually and prior to anticipated exposure, using a single 1 mL dose. Use a separate needle for each injection.
