Product Overview

Terbutaline Sulfate is a bronchodilator that prevents or treats signs of emphysema, bronchitis, asthma, and many other breathing issues. Your veterinarian may also prescribe it to treat other problems.
For use in cats and dogs.
Terbutaline works to ease wheezing and labored breathing in pets with the following conditions:
  • Certain lung diseases
  • Allergic bronchitis
  • Collapsing trachea
  • Asthma-related breathing trouble
  • Tracheobronchitis
Terbutaline is a bronchodilator that stimulates certain receptors in the airway to dilate or open, making it easier for your pet to breathe. It primarily works to stimulate the airway's beta-2 receptors, allowing for those muscles to relax.
Potential side effects include:
  • Dizziness
  • Nervousness
  • Tremors
  • Increased heart rate
These symptoms typically disappear after a short period of time. If persistent, severe, or worsening, speak to your veterinarian.

If your pet shows signs of an allergic reaction, including the following, seek emergency veterinary attention.
  • Coma
  • Cold limbs
  • Pale gums
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Vomiting
  • Sudden diarrhea
  • Scratching
  • Hives
  • Facial swelling

  • Because the this drug can take many hours to take effect, do not administer to pets who are struggling to breathe. If your pet is having trouble breathing, seek immediate veterinary attention.
  • Only administer with extreme caution to animals suffering from heart disease.
  • Do not administer to animals with Terbutaline allergies.
  • Administer with caution to animals with low blood potassium levels, history of seizures, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, abnormal heart rhythm, or diabetes.
  • This medication may interact with other drugs, including anesthetics and antidepressants. Discuss all other medications your pet is taking with your pharmacist or veterinarian.
  • Use with caution in animals who are taking thyroid supplements (L-thyroxine).
Sold per Tablet as follows : 2.5 mg Oval Tablet (for whole tablet dosing), 2.5 Round Scored Tablet (which can be broken in half) or 5 mg Tablet.
