This is the generic form of the name brand Pepcid. It is available in 50 ml bottles in a 40 mg or 5 ml strength.
This medication must be mixed with water before administering to your pet.
Famotidine is used to help reduce the amount of stomach acid produced. It aids in the treatment of stomach ulcers that are present and helps prevent ulcer formation. Famotidine can also be used to treat gastritis, esophagitis, and gastric or esophageal reflux as well as prevent stomach or duodenal ulcers in animals with kidney failure.

Famotidine is a drug that heals and prevents ulcers. It is part of the class of histamine receptor 2 blockers. It works by preventing the secretion of gastric acid through the blockage of H-2 receptors. Gastric acid is secreted when H-2 receptors exist in the cells of the stimulated stomach cells. This ultimately leads to the healing of ulcers by preventing the secretion of gastric acid.
